I am looking into purchasing 1/3 of a small business. What can I look for/ask prior to purchasing? Are there any sure signs of success? Any advice would be helpful.

Underfunding

Make sure that your internet home based business has enough financial backing to carry it through the cash poor early stages.  It also should have adequate funding to provide for your needs during occasional slowdown times.  Typically, the excitement of a bricks and mortar store opening will provide sales in the early days that may not be representative of a normal revenue curve so that the business owner may form expectations about cash flow that are not realistic.  The same is true of a business on the internet, only there may be very few sales in the very beginning until customers find your site and recognize the value of your product.

I’d like to get a small business loan to cover start-up costs and to give me working capital for two years. I’d also like at least 40 acres of land for the business to use. Should I bundle the loan for the business with the loan for the land or should I do each loan seperately?

I am a senior with a minor in advertising, and am looking to possibly set up my own small freelancing advertising business just to make some extra cash and experience. Any suggestions…costs, how much to charge, where to start, etc.?

Right now I work part time and until I get my narcolepsy taken care of I really can’t work a full time job. However, the pay just isn’t cutting it. I’d like to find some sort of job I can do at home to bring in some extra cash and to keep me busy. I’m not talking those earn thousands your first week schemes either.

I have a few friends that have started businesses, one a rug and home accessory, and another a furniture business, I have always wanted to own a small furniture and home accent business and have gone to the market in High Point NC and Atlanta Georgia.Buying from the manufacturer is not cheap and the mark up would have to be ridiculas.You also have to make major purchases to carry most lines of furniture. I would be more interested in discontinued or floor samples.They both are very successful and are hush hush about where they get their merchandise. but I do know that they get it dirt cheap and they travel to pick everything up.I am more interested in sofas. Can anyone give me some ideas where to start.

A small business plan is very important to a growing business.  It helps you to focus your business.  A business plan also says to potential investors, “I’ve thought this through.”  You don’t have to wait until your business plan is completely perfect to go on and start your business.
