How do I start a small business?

I’ve already applied for and received a Employer Identification Number through the IRS. Is that it? Do i essentially own a small business? What else is needed to be done through the government to start my business?

It’s all very well saying that you might want to put up a website…….these days, it’s downright vital!
If you look into it, the Yellow Pages are dead (or dying). These days, there’s so much emphasis on saving the planet, etc that the Yellow Pages are seen as a huge waste of resources. That’s why, more and more, your customers are looking for you online. They are using the search engines to find you, even local business.
So what’s the key to successful business? Make sure your customers can find you. How do you do that? You must advertise where your customers are looking…..on the internet.
But it’s not quite that easy, because the competition online is also crazy, so when I say you need a website, the website that you need is one that puts you at the top of the search engines (so you can be found). Anything less than that as a goal is a waste of time.
