I have a letters from Santa business where parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc go on my website and can order a letter to the kid(s) in their life that is personalized to each child from Santa Claus and postmarked from the North Pole. I have the back end of my business completely in order; however I need some free or inexpensive ways to advertise this business. I will be utilizing press releases as I am teaming up with a charity and donating $1 from each of my letters to that charity. This will give me a little more newsworthiness with the press releases. My main target is women. Ad rates in women’s magazines are outrageous. Even my local newspapers and community publications seem to want an arm and leg for even for the smaller ads. I don’t have to focus locally as my service is available nationally in the U.S. I need ideas for online and offline marketing that will not break the bank! I really want to saturate with advertising the five weeks after thanksgiving. HELP!

Its a gutter cleaning service using an industrial vac. I have already leaflet dropped and have got some work from that, but I want to expand the advertising. I have missed this years listing in the yellow pages. Radio? Newspaper? Keep leaflet dropping? I would love to hear from small business people who have been in a similar position.

Have a small business with an even smaller advertising budget? There are ways to advertise at minimal costs for maximum results. Here are just a few ideas.
Print
Business cards are always a good investment. They can be handed out to potential clients, placed on bulletin boards at churches, schools, meeting places, or even left in stacks at area businesses. Some businesses use postcards or letters for targeted mass mailings. Have you ever gotten home and found a door hanger advertising a local business? Those work too. You can always use classified ads in newspapers. You write the copy and pay for it to be run for a specified amount of time. It will be categorized to your specifications so that the target audience will be reached. If you like print advertising, you can take it further by utilizing the local sales papers like the Shopper, or the Thrifty Nickel. Small papers like that generally have very inexpensive advertising and a widespread local reader base with their custom led signs.

Yes, there still is a Fuller Brush Man – although the company’s products are mostly sold today on Home Shopping Network, in catalogs, and by some spare-time reps and home parties ala Tupperware. Art Pearson has been a full-time Fuller Brush Man calling on customers at their homes for 70 years.
If you’re younger than 40, you’ve probably never seen a creature like Art. The Fuller Brush Man, the Cook Coffee Man, the Charles Chips man, the Sealtest Milkman. (There used to be jokes about someone’s new baby resembling the milkman.) They had routes and regular customers, built by knocking on doors; they came weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, brought pre-ordered products – staples like cleaning soaps or coffee and tea – and carried a big tote of other products to show, demonstrate and sell.

Although you probably do a lot for your business advertising, you might want to look at other options. It is always good to branch out. You can check around and see what else you might be able to do to reach other areas of the population.
If you are attempting to build up some recognition for your business then you need to get some communication or rapport going with your current and possible customers. To do this easily you can get people used to your logo through repetition. Big companies with deep pockets can use the TV and ads to do this. With a smaller budget you can do the same thing through the use of promotional products.

A small business enterprise must keep its potential as well as already established customers well informed about its activities. This is done through advertising, be it for new services or for continued delivery of the same. Good advertising must meet the fundamentals of marketing, lest the message passed will have no impact whatsoever. Proper advertising can reap overwhelming responses.
To get some tips on how to have some eye catching advertisements, you could stick to a few simple and easy to remember rules. To begin with, use a single message while doing the advert. Your wording should be simple and that which can easily be understood by all. Nevertheless, avoid being too simple and devoid of catchy words.
