what can you do to accomplish a successful small business, what tools and plans do you need to follow?

I’d like to know how you can have a successful home business, then hopefully grow, I’m looking to own my own computer business, anybody help?

Well, Angelo, it sounds like you’re starting at Square One, so you’ll need to get an education in the nuts and bolts of starting a business. The good news is there are a raft of great tools online to help you.
My personal favorite is Inc.com, the online version of Inc. magazine. If you go to the Startup drop down menu, it will guide you to a string of smart step-by-step articles on how to create a business plan, the basics on getting financing, how to decide on the right legal classification, etc. You can find the page here: http://www.inc.com/guides/start_biz/. If Inc.com isn’t to your liking, there are plenty of others, from The Wall Street Journal (http://www.wsj.com) and beyond. Set aside a couple of hours and start your education.
The other crucial step I’d take if I were in your shoes is to create a Personal Board of Advisers for you and your business. These are people who bring knowledge and mentoring skills to you, and who will be sounding boards for when you need advice. You’ll want these people to have varied backgrounds – finance, hiring, marketing, operations – and patience for your many questions. Their payback: take them to a fancy dinner once in a while, so that you can pick their brains over a nice fish plate.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg, of course. Starting a business is a life decision, not just a business decision. Good luck with it.
