What do I need to start a small spice and herbs business?

My friend and I want to start a small business together selling herbs and natural spices. We have all of the spices and products, but we don’t know what we need to legally package and sell these kinds of products. What do I need? Do I need a permit/license? And if so, how would I be able to obtain one? Please help!

You do not need any license or permit if you are going to sell the spices and herbs as spices and herbs , without any processing. But if you propose to process and sell them as medicines or health products , then you need a drug license. If you propose to make cosmetics out of them without adding any chemicals or preservatives etc.then there is no restriction.Simple repacking also does not require any licence.But it must be remembered that contraband or narcotic material (like hemp or cannabis for example) should not be handled even though they may come under the classification of ‘herb’.
